NZ’s top MTB race series comes to Rangituhi-Colonial Knob

The PNP Cycling Club’s Spring MTB Series – the country’s longest running and biggest cross country mountainbike race series - comes to the Rangituhi Trail Park for the first time on 23 October, with superb cross country racing for all. We’ve added a free race for under 9s.

Event Details
Mana Cycle Group (MCG) have created an event village just above the Raiha Street gate to ensure a great atmosphere. There will be coffee on site and MCG will be behind the BBQ.
Important times
5pm October 22 - Online entries close. If you can, please enter online - it makes registration faster and smoother on the day. Of course, you can still enter on the day.
Race day: Sunday 23rd October 2016 (times many vary slightly on the day)
8:30 to 9:30am – Race registration.
9:45am – Race briefing.
10:00am – Racing starts.
11.30am – Under 9s please be at event village
12:00pm – Under 9s race starts
12:30pm – Prizegiving
1:00 pm – Event wrapped up (Please no U turns on Raiha Street) drive safe.
College Shield
Gather your mates, and race riders from other schools to be in to win the College shield for your school’s wall. The College Shield is contested for over the whole series, and at the end of round five, your school’s name could be added to the plaque. The more school friends entered, the more chance you have at winning. Simply add your school name into the field on the entry form.

The Long Loop
The Long Loop starts from the event area above Raiha Street gate, and heads south along Spicer Link. Next climbs a grassy 4-wheel drive to descend a couple sections (with easy lines) of lower Crash Palace. The course then meets up again with Spicer Link, and then connects through to The Doctor. At the top of The Doctor, now up Farm Road to Chimney Sweep which descends to Rough Justice. from here continuing down to join upper Tumeke. Tumeke takes you back to the event area to complete the lap.
The Short Loop
The short loop starts at the event area, follows Spicer Link south to Spicer Botanical Park. It then climbs The Doctor to ride the new intermediate section of Tumeke, down to the event area to complete the lap.
The Under 9's Course (2 laps)
The U9s will ride north onto Spicer Link, and follow to the Spicer Link/ Tumeke intersection. Descend the last two corners of Tumeke and head north on the 4-wheel drive road, back to the event area.
Mana Cycle Group will provide engaging activities for under 9s waiting for their big race which will be held on a fun and easy single-trail loop. Adults, including those who have just raced, are welcome to accompany their loved ones in the U9 race.
