Name Our New Trails
We’ve scouted beautiful new singletrack, which will create
the ‘wow factor’ on Rangituhi-Colonial Knob. Now we just
need your creative mind to help us make sure the names do
the new trails justice.
An easy and intermediate up hill trail from Camp Elsdon to
the Lookout has been named Utiwai, But we need names -
three in all - for the descent.

Name our new trails.
MCG have scouted some beautiful new singletrack which will create the ultimate lookout loop at Rangituhi. Now we just need your creative mind to help us make sure the names do the new trails the justice that they deserve.
The look-out climb has already been named by the local iwi, Utiwai.
The descent needs three names for three different sections.
The top section starts with its own lookout knoll at 340m above sea level. Enjoy the panoramic views because quickly it finds its way into lush native forest. Each time you ride through the forest there will be more bird sound returning too. Of course there will be a few roots and rocks to concentrate on. The terrain is very easy rolling with a few switchbacks to warm you to the next sections.
The middle section starts at the bottom of Chimney Sweep diving straight into the bush again this time negotiating through younger regenerating native forest. For a brief moment you pop out onto a defined spur with incredible vistas’ of the region and the harbour. Here we plan to create a massive structure wallride (it will guarantee to make you go “wow”). But wait there's more, you head back into the native forest for a bit more before it turns into a bermy wonderland through pine trees for the last 500m.
The final section is a real blaster! The berms are further apart than the section before, so this will allow there to be a lot of great features built in between them. These will be in the form of rollers, tables and possibly small drops. All this crammed into another 400m! Once you reach the bottom you will be on fire, and be back up like a rocket to session it again.
The Mana Cycle Group Committee will vote on the three best to put forward to PCC and Ngati Toa to hopefully be approved as the trail names. Remembering this is a public and family park, give us your best! Winners each receive a 2017 MCG tee (coming soon) ,the first shuttles of the whole descent and of course a section of trail named by you!
